First minted in 1986, the American Silver Eagle is the world’s most popular bullion coin and the only official investment-grade silver coin issued by the US Government.

2021 marks the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle Coin Program. In honor of the anniversary, the Mint has released new reverse designs for the American Eagle Silver coins. The obverse remains the same, but has been refreshed.

The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The word LIBERTY rounds the top half of the coin, 2021 the bottom, and IN GOD WE TRUST is situated to the right.

The reverse of the redesigned 2021 American Eagle Silver coin shows an eagle coming to land on a nest, carrying an oak branch. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, and ONE DOLLAR. AIP designer Emily Damstra created the design, which was sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso.
