INCO Limited

INCO Limited

Inco Limited was a Canadian-based multinational and the world’s second-largest nickel producer. In addition to nickel, the company also produced copper, cobalt, and both precious and platinum-group metals. At its processing facilities in Sudbury, Ontario, Inco also generated sulphuric acid and liquid sulphur dioxide as by-products.

In October 2006, Inco was acquired by Brazilian mining giant Vale in a deal valued at $19.4 billion. Following the acquisition, Inco became a wholly owned subsidiary under the name Vale Canada Limited. Now headquartered in Toronto, it is responsible for managing Vale’s global base metals operations.
