JBR Recovery Ltd. is a specialized silver refiner delivering to the London Bullion Market in the form of 'Good Delivery' silver bars with a guaranteed purity of at least 99.9%. Founded in 1977 under the name John Betts Refiners, JBR has 45 years of experience in the processing and recycling of precious metals from different sources.
The company focuses on the recovery of silver, gold, platinum, and palladium from a wide range of scrap and secondary materials, including photographic film and paper waste, electronic waste, silver catalysts, x-ray film, metallics, doré and many other sources.
Operating on a site of 2.05 acres in West Bromwich, in the outskirts of Birmingham, JBR is the leading UK expert in precious metal recovery and produces more than 250 tonnes of high-quality silver per year.
JBR uses a mix of pyrometallurgical smelting and chemical processes to recover the precious metals from the source material. Combustible materials are incinerated to produce a silver-bearing ash, which is then mixed with other sludges and residues, lead, and fluxes and charged into a furnace to create an alloy with a silver purity of about 50%.
In a subsequent fire refining process, the lead is removed to obtain high-grade silver with a purity of about 98%. A final chemical treatment raises the fineness to at least 99,9%. This high-purity silver is melted and poured into moulds to produce “Good Delivery” bars conforming to the standards of the international precious metals market.
JBR Recovery Ltd. produces silver bars in different sizes ranging from 10 to 1000 ounces. Popular among investors are especially the 1 kg silver bars and the 100 oz silver bars as they offer a convenient, stackable size and good liquidity.
All bars produced by JBR have a fineness of 99,9+% and are made from recycled precious metals. Their simple design features the oval stamp of the refinery, showing the name 'JBR Recovery Ltd.' and the fineness of '999', as well as the weight, metal type, and the individual serial number on the obverse of the bar. The reverse side is often left blank.
JBR Recovery Ltd. is one of only two refiners in the UK which are certified by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) as “Good Delivery”. This certificate does not only guarantee that the bars produced by JBR conform with the highest quality standards, but also that the materials are sourced responsibly.
