The Kangaroo series is one of the world’s favorite coin series, prized for the beautiful depiction of Australia’s most recognizable wildlife species. It is all the more desirable, particularly for collectors, due to the fact that its design has changed each year since its introduction in 1989. The back of the coin earns first look, with its new depiction of the iconic kangaroo bounding across the Australian outback, a big sky and spiky vegetation in the background.  The “P” (for Perth) mint mark is nestled into the area above the animal’s curved tail. The artwork is ringed by the words “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO” over top, and the year, weight and purity below. The face of the coin features the profile effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, around which is engraved the names of the sovereign and the nation of which she is the figurehead leader, as well as the 100 dollar denomination.
