A 30 grams version of a very popular coin, and one that is available in many denominations, the 2016 30 grams Gold Panda contains .999 fine gold and is in “brilliant uncirculated” condition. It tends to be a little thicker and smaller in diameter than the silver version. The weight and size (30 grams) are displayed in the bottom border of the coin’s obverse, and the face value is on this side also. As is often the case, this is just a fraction of the value of the precious metal content, but it shows that this is classified as legal tender, which can come in handy for tax purposes.

All Gold Panda coins issued by the People’s Republic of China come sealed in a plastic capsule. We do not open it, which means that the seal remains unbroken from the moment it leaves the mint until it arrives at your door.

Features

The design of these coins changes, ever since first minting in the early 1980s. In fact, there was only one year in which it was not changed. The front design for 2016 features one panda straddling a branch. It is engraved in different shades of gold, adding depth and style to the piece.

The same shading is used on the reverse side, which features the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. This design is consistent with all editions of the coin, with only slight changes. There is a gold border around the temple and the year stamped along the bottom of this border. “The People’s Republic of China” is written in Chinese on the top border.
