The Royal Canadian Mint’s 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf (GML) celebrates Canada in all its beauty and diversity and is among the world’s most popular pure gold coins. The GML was the first bullion coin to achieve the heightened standard of 99.99% purity.
The coin's reverse features Walter Ott’s iconic sugar maple leaf design, unchanged since the first Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin issued in 1979. The single maple leaf design is engraved in outstanding detail to give it a life-like quality, and includes such textural details as the deeply etched veins that run through each of the leaf's lobes. There's an unmistakable shine to the reverse, thanks to the light-diffracting wave pattern that fills the entirety of the field. The reverse features the words ‘CANADA’ and ‘FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR’ as well as the highest purity standard of ‘9999‘.
The obverse displays the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, along with the ‘50 DOLLARS’ legal-tender denomination and the date ‘2023. To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II, marking 70 years of the Queen of England's reign, the date ‘1952-2002’ was added on this side of the coin.
All 1-ounce GML bullion coins have three unique features for enhanced security—radial lines, a micro-engraved maple leaf and Bullion DNA Anti-Counterfeiting Technology.
The Royal Canadian Mint is known around the world for impeccable standards of quality and purity. The iconic Gold Maple Leaf 2023 is a highly sought-after bullion coin, and an attractive acquisition for both first-time precious metal buyers and long-term investors.
